The Perfect Rope Belt

I am completely BLOWN AWAY by all of the support we’ve gotten from you dear readers in our quest to win $10,000!  I want to hug every single one of you and plant a big ol’ kiss on your cheek – THANK YOU!  If you haven’t had a chance to vote yet, please click here and vote today!  By the way, to my regular readers – please bear with me.  I will be doing some serious campaigning over the next two weeks.  I have even considered printing up fliers – I HAVE TO WIN THIS CONTEST.  So anyway, moving on . . .

I was pretty busy this weekend – between begging people for votes, I did some major spring cleaning and organized my workroom (which was really scary).   Then Keith and I met with our photographers, had a meal at our rehearsal dinner restaurant out in the ‘burbs, and spent the rest of the weekend drinking frozen cocktails.  We were mostly busy with the cocktails, but somewhere in that fog I found time to put together this little belt!

veronica sheaffer rope belt

anthropologie rope beltI made it specifically for my rehearsal dinner dress, but I love it so much that I’m wearing it today.  I have a major crush on rope belts, by the way – I just cannot get enough of them.  Unfortunately they’re usually made with natural-colored rope, and I already have one of those.  So even though I want to have a mad love affair with this Anthropologie belt, I just can’t allow myself to buy something I sort of already own.  I did draw major inspiration from that belt though, and after reading the reviews, made some structural changes to make it more wearer-friendly.  I can’t wait to wear my version with my burgundy Joan Crawford pumps.  Hot. Stuff.

Cool! How did you do that? It would even look good on a wedding dress – maybe to add a little touch of modern to a vintage 50′s frock.

I want to know can you make this belt a tutorial? I want to make this belt so bad; it was sold out at anthropologie (not that I was going to buy it) before I could save the picture for it. so please could you do a simple tutorial ?? Thanks

      Hi Hannah!

I would really love to make a simple tutorial for this belt, but honestly, it’s not a simple belt to make. All I can recommend is getting some rope and sturdy thread and starting twisting the rope and sewing it up by hand as best you can. That’s what I did!

      xoxo
